Head-on collision injures four, one seriously

Head-on collisions can be difficult to explain. Police investigation teams often spend several hours inspecting the crash site, making careful measurements and attempting to establish the exact chronology of events that led to the collision. A recent head-on crash in Puyallup provides a typical example.

Initial police reports indicate that the accident occurred on Meridian Avenue near its exit to Route 512 at about 6 a.m. One vehicle was traveling south on Meridian when it failed to obey a stoplight and struck a northbound vehicle head-on. The southbound vehicle was traveling at a rate of high speed, and investigators have said that the driver of this may have been impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The driver of the southbound vehicle suffered serious and potentially life-threatening injuries. Each vehicle had one passenger. The female passenger in the southbound vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the northbound vehicle and his passenger likewise suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The Puyallup police department has deployed its Major Collision Response team to assist in the post-accident investigation. The accident has been classified as a vehicular assault case.

Anyone who has been injured or lost a loved one in a head-on collision where alcohol or drugs are suspected as causative factors may wish to explore the possibility of attempting to recover damages. In this case, the passenger in the southbound vehicle and both occupants of the northbound vehicle may have claims against the driver of the southbound vehicle. An experienced auto accident attorney can provide a helpful evaluation of the evidence, legal theories for the recovery of damages and an estimate of the likelihood of recovering damages for medical expenses, past and future lost income and pain and suffering.
