Cyclist killed in Bellevue accident

There are many people in the Issaquah area that ride a bike. Biking is great exercise, but many also use a bike to get to places including work and shopping. Most of the time bikers and cars can safely share the road but occasionally a bicycle accident occurs that leaves a cyclist seriously injured or even killed.

A tragic accident recently occurred in Bellevue where a cyclist was hit and killed by a car making a left turn. The driver who was making the turn struck the cyclist. He was taken to a local hospital where he died shortly after.

No one expects their loved one will be the victim of a serious bike accident. Unfortunately, these events happen frequently in the Issaquah area. Bikers are at greater risk of injury because they have little protection. A helmet can only do so much when a person is hit by a car or truck weighing in excess of 2,500 pounds. If a family finds themselves in a situation where a loved one was seriously injured or killed in a bicycle accident, they may want to speak with a legal professional who is skilled in personal injury. An attorney can visit the accident scene and interview witnesses, review the police report and help get answers as to what happened. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, lost wages, funeral expenses, pain and suffering and other damages.

It is important that drivers are always aware of their surroundings and are constantly monitoring for cyclists and pedestrians. Those that are affected by a bicycle accident should understand that they have legal rights.
